With The Game Awards 2018 just around the corner, it appears companies are pulling out the big guns when it comes to teaser reveals.
So….uh….these just arrived at my house.

Taking to Twitter, PlayStation Access presenter Hollie Bennett wrote that she received a pair of large, fuzzy orange dice with the following text signed off anonymously: “Sliding into the Game Awards on 12/6…”. Later, IGN also reported of the same surprise in the mail.
With the shade of orange and the fuzz being highly reminiscent of Crash Bandicoot, there’s a strong possibility that a remaster of CTR: Crash Team Racing will be announced at the event itself. Should this be the real deal, it’d be a dream come true for fans of the kart-racing spin-off, for a remastered version of the game has been a long-standing wish in the community.
Word on the developing studio remains on the hush-hush, though Naughty Dog of the Uncharted and The Last of Us fame is a plausible option, especially since the team worked on the original CTR: Crash Team Racing back in 1999. Activision would actually be the most logical choice, but their recent release of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy places this reveal too soon after that.
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if the potential remake will follow in the shoes of Crash’s trilogy remaster. Where CTR: Crash Team Racing was a PlayStation exclusive back in the day, the latter launched on other platforms as well, with PS4 being the first. Since PlayStation Access was granted access (heh) to the tease, it’s safe to assume that continues to be the case.
Looks like the time is finally here for CTR: Crash Team Racing to make a comeback – it’s no Mario Kart, but it’d be great, great fun.
