Shutting the world out when you’re listening to music is a great feeling, so it’s little wonder that active noise cancellation (ANC) technology is an oft-requested addition to devices. Harmon, in its Consumer Electronics Show (CES) showcase this year, has demonstrated just how popular the feature is, with the JBL Reflect Mini NC TWS getting ANC for the very first time in the series’ history.
The wireless earbuds, which are primarily designed for wear during sports and active sessions, will now have users hitting their workout goals with zero distractions, or go about their daily life with an awareness of their surroundings – courtesy of the ANC with Smart Ambient feature. For increased comfort, the Reflect Mini NC TWS also comes outfitted with adjustable ear-fins and a more compact build.
Performance-wise, the device is expected to last 21 hours on a single charge, with independent connectivity for music and calls. An IPX7 waterproof design, meanwhile, allows immersion in up to one metre of water.
Top-tier technology doesn’t count for much without the ease of use, however. The Reflect Mini NC TWS offers accessibility and user efficiency through smart sensor functionality that grants automatic Bluetooth pairing once the case is opened. When removed, the music comes to a pause as well.
The earbuds will be available for purchase on the official JBL website starting Spring 2021 for US$149.95. Interested parties may wish to check out the other ANC-fitted releases, including the JBL Tune 660NC headphones ($S99.95), JBL Live Free NC+ headset (US$149.95), the on-ear Live 460NC (US$129.95), and the Live Pro+ earbuds (US$179.95).
