Sam Wilson may have been given the shield, but the new Captain America has definitely stolen the hearts of Singapore’s Marvel fans, who assembled at the Captain America: Brave New World IMAX Fan Screening on 14 February 2025, and turned Valentine’s Day into a celebration of heroism, legacy, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Over 370 attendees packed Shaw Lido IMAX, bringing their passion and energy to a night that celebrated not just the MCU’s latest chapter but the enduring love for a hero who represents resilience, justice, and hope. Much like Steve Rogers stepping into the spotlight decades ago, Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of Captain America resonated deeply, marking a new era for the franchise.

The evening kicked off with excited chatter and fans decked out in blue, red, and white, eager to witness Sam Wilson’s first big-screen adventure as Captain America. Disney Singapore and Geek Culture amplified the experience with exclusive giveaways, from action figures (thanks to Hasbro Singapore) to premium merchandise, ensuring fans left with more than just memories in the 35th film of the massively successful Marvel entertainment franchise. A special collectible coin commemorating the event added to the buzz, as lucky winners walked away with Captain America-themed backpacks, role-play bundles and more during the pre-show activities.

As the lights dimmed and the Marvel Studios logo shimmered across the screen, the crowd knew they were in for something special. The film delivered a gripping blend of action and character-driven moments, with Sam grappling with the weight of the shield. Laughter echoed through the hall as familiar faces like Joaquin Torres, as the new Falcon, returned, and audible gasps filled the room when Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross unleashed his Red Hulk transformation, cementing himself as a formidable new threat in the MCU.
“This Valentine’s Day, it’s all about love – that fans have for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and our love for Captain America, so there’s nothing quite like having an IMAX hall packed with over 370 excited Marvel fans of all ages, to celebrate Sam Wilson’s big screen debut as Captain America. Disney has also been a partner we love and together, we look forward to ushering in an exciting year for the MCU, with Thunderbolts* in May, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July. Just as Sam is tasked to rebuild the Avengers, Geek Culture is building the largest audience of geeks and movie lovers in anticipation of what’s to come, ” said Geek Culture co-founder, Yonk.

Post-screening conversations spilled out into the night, with fans sharing favourite scenes and speculating on what’s next for the MCU. As fans left the theatre, clutching their new collectibles, it’s clear that Captain America’s shield has found a new bearer — and the fandom has found a new reason to rally together.
