It was a livestream from a galaxy far, far away and if you were the lucky ones who felt the Force beckoning, thank you for joining us on 5 October, where we unboxed and reviewed some incredible new merchandise from shopDisney Singapore, live from Geek Culture’s office together with our fellow Star Wars fans.
Kicking off the livestream, hosted by @EstelleFly and Geek Culture’s Gerald Chan, was a Pets Collection from the Padawan Pet Academy range which includes a T-Shirt, Collar, Harness, Waste Bag Dispenser, a Roll-Up Pet Bed and a handy collapsible portable Pet Bowl when you take out your Padawan – we mean pet – for a walk.
With the conclusion of Star Wars: Ahsoka on Disney+, we also toyed around with our very own Ahsoka Tano Talking Action Figure (S$49.90) – the first of many Ahsoka-themed goodies on the livestream. Press a button on the action figure and it will play some of Ahsoka’s lines from the series, including “I sense much fear in you” and of course, “May the Force be with you”. Most excitingly, the action figure has motion-activated lightsabers that also light-up with sound effects! Talk about action!
Up next was the Ahsoka Tano Bust Collectible (S$235.90), a beautifully detailed collectible figure inspired by the Disney+ Original Series, Ahsoka. For fans who prefer something more cuddly, perhaps the Ahsoka Tano Plush Doll (S$42.90) is the way to go. Looks like the Force must have been with our audience, as we gave away all three of the Ahsoka Tano-themed merchandise (worth S$328) to a lucky fan during the first quiz of the livestream!
shopDisney’s Chopper Interactive Remote Control Astromech Droid (S$155.90) took the spotlight almost instantaneously when he zoomed into the livestream right after the first giveaway. The sarcastic and cranky astromech droid of the Ghost VCX-100 light freighter takes form in this interactive remote-controlled collectible.
The remote control can be used to move Chopper around, as well as change the droid’s expression. We gave Chopper away with a BD-1 Pin and an R2-S4M 40th Anniversary Jabba Serving Tray Figurine (from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi) with a second quiz. The entire droid-themed prize is worth up to S$204.
But no Star Wars livestream would be complete without… LIGHTSABERS and we unboxed the Ahsoka Tano Legacy Lightsaber Set (S$529.90) for viewers, and revealed just how stunning and cool it looks in the dark.
It’s one thing to wield a lightsaber, it’s another to build your own. We challenged ourselves to build lightsabers from scratch in a span of five minutes while wearing a Darth Vader Voice-Changing Mask (S$55.90), and Darth Vader Ear Headband (S$55.90).
After some lightsaber action, we brought out the big gun to give away in the next quiz: the Cal Kestis (Jedi Survivor) Colour Changing Legacy Lightsaber Set (S$345.90).
Last but not least, we previewed the ID9 Seeker Droid which will only be available on shopDisney.sg later this month!
