2020 continues to be a year of disappointments, as Bandai Namco has announced a delay for the upcoming role-playing game, Tales of Arise. The latest entry in the long-running Tales franchise, this latest delay will see the game no longer making a 2020 release. No new release date or window has been shared.
Due to the pandemic that has swept the world, work on Tales of Arise has been hard. Producer Yusuke Tomizawa said that the development team adapted to working remotely on the game, but more time is needed in order to ensure everything is up to their standards.
The goal for Tales of Arise is to provide a familiar but innovative gameplay experience to fans of the series, while pushing the technical envelope to deliver a high level of graphical quality to impress both long-time players and those who have never played a Tales of game. Development on the title has move steadily forward in 2020 as we overcame challenges along the way.
While COVID-19 has affected some aspects of development, we’ve done our best to adapt to the situation and have implemented remote development capabilities for our team.
However, to achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience we envision for our players, we will need more time to realize that vision and therefore we decided to delay the launch timing for Tales of Arise.
A new launch window update will be provided once we have more details to share.Yusuke Tomizawa, Producer
First announced in 2019, Tales of Arise was first seen at Microsoft’s E3 2019 conference. It was the next game following 2017’s Tales of Beseria. Currently slated for release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, there is no news of a next-generation offering just yet.
