M2 Apple iPad Air 13” (2024) Gaming Test — Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, COD: Warzone Mobile & PUBG

Gone are the days of Apple’s iPad series as a one-trick productivity pony. The tech giant’s tablets have always been a choice pick for creative work and content creation, but the M-series chip upgrade means it now packs more oomph than before.

Announced earlier this month alongside the iPad Pro with M4, the latest 13-inch iPad Air (2024) enters the gaming space with the M2 might. Also available in 11 inches, the redesigned device pairs 128GB of storage with Apple’s signature Liquid Retina display to deliver a visually-enhanced experience.

Despite being two steps down from the newest M4 tech, the M2-powered iPad Air is far from a slouch. Real-world testing showed competent gaming performance across the board — Honkai: Star Rail registered some slight frame rate drops, but Genshin Impact, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, and PUBG Mobile ran smoothly without a hitch.

Check out the detailed breakdown in the video above, which also includes temperature checks, individual findings for each title, and concluding thoughts. The M2 iPad Air 13″ starts from S$1,199 and is available in blue, purple, starlight, and space grey.
