Wednesday Addams is bringing a familiar face from Tim Burton’s filmography into her eerie orbit. As Netflix gears up for the second season of Wednesday, Variety has confirmed that Anthony Michael Hall will join the new cast lineup. Best known to Burton fans as the antagonist in Edward Scissorhands, Hall reunites with the director-turned-executive-producer more than three decades later in another story filled with off-kilter charm and gothic undertones.
Since Edward Scissorhands, Hall has stayed active in the industry, appearing in projects like Halloween Kills, Amazon’s Reacher, and Netflix’s Trigger Warning. Whether he’ll serve as friend, foe, or something in between at Nevermore Academy is still a mystery, but fans of his past work know he brings the kind of presence that could slide seamlessly into Wednesday’s darkly comedic world.

He’s not the only notable name making a first appearance this season. Lady Gaga is set to join the ensemble in a role yet to be revealed. She’ll appear alongside new guest stars including Christopher Lloyd (The Addams Family), Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Frances O’Connor (The Twelve), Haley Joel Osment (Somebody I Used to Know), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries), and Joonas Suotamo(The Acolyte). Regular cast additions also include Steve Buscemi (The Big Lebowski), Billie Piper (Scoop), Owen Painter (The Handmaid’s Tale), Noah Taylor (Park Avenue), and rising star Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill).
Jenna Ortega returns as the sardonic and sharp-witted Wednesday Addams, now heading into her second year at Nevermore Academy. Following the cliffhanger at the end of Season 1, Season 2 picks up with Wednesday returning to Nevermore Academy, where new threats and familiar enemies await. With her psychic powers evolving and alliances shifting, she must once again solve a mystery.
As Tim Burton continues to shape the tone and direction of the series, his reunion with Hall and the addition of an eclectic supporting cast suggests the second season will double down on the eccentric energy that made the show a breakout hit in 2022. With mystery, mayhem, and macabre humour on the syllabus, Wednesday’s next semester promises to be anything but ordinary.
Wednesday Season 2 will stream on 6 August, with the part two following on 3 September.
