Prepare for the ultimate fusion of comfort and anime fandom as the Demon Slayer x Crocs collaboration takes center stage. The first glimpse of this exciting collaboration comes courtesy of @hyplandjordan on TikTok.
Each of the four main characters — Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu — receives their very own unique interpretation in the form of Crocs and custom jibbitz that adorn the footwear.
Tanjiro’s Crocs bear his signature checkered haori print, which are instantly recognisable to fans. The custom jibbitz are inspired by pivotal Demon Slayer motifs. These include a wooden box, symbolising the crucial protection it provides to Tanjiro’s sister Nezuko from the sun, as well as his sword guard and the adorable feline familiar Chachamaru.
Nezuko’s Crocs are a vision of pink elegance, mirroring her own haori print. The unexpected yet delightful inclusion is Nezuko’s bamboo muzzle, gracing her Crocs just beneath the straps. Notable jibbitz additions include a wooden box, reminiscent of the one shielding her from sunlight, and a charming pink bow.
Inosuke’s Crocs make a bold statement with their light blue design. Jibbitz additions include serrated dual blades, a representation of his fierce nature, and an “angry” emoji, capturing his haughty personality.
Zenitsu’s Crocs come in a vibrant yellow hue adorned with triangle prints. His custom jibbitz highlight key character elements, such as his sword guard and Chuntaro, the timid bird that often perches atop his head.
All versions of the Demon Slayer x Crocs collection share common features. They boast a unique wave-like embossing, likely symbolising the characters’ breathing techniques, which are central to their skills. The Demon Slayer logo proudly graces the insole and strap’s button.
Apart from Nezuko, the other three Demon Slayer Corps members also include the “Metsu” Kanji character as a jibbitz. This nod to their commitment to exterminating demons aligns with the show’s Japanese name, Kimetsu no Yaiba.
While an official release date remains shrouded in mystery, there’s exciting news for fans attending New York Comic Con from 12–15 October 2023. There may be an opportunity to catch an exclusive first look at the collection at the convention. However, whether these collaborative foam clogs will be available for sale there, or have plans for a broader release remains to be seen. The Instagram post from New York Comic Con teasing the collaboration does also include Foot Locker, hinting at the possibility of an exclusive release under the brand.
