A level-up is in store for Amazon MGM Studios and Blur Studio’s latest foray into the realm of video games. After scoring the largest debut for a new animated series on Prime Video, Secret Level has been renewed for Season 2, with the first season wrapping up with additional new episodes.

Helmed and created by Tim Miller of Love, Death + Robots fame, the adult-animated anthology series tells original stories set within various video game franchises, including Dungeons & Dragons, Armored Core, Mega Man, Warhammer 40K, Unreal Tournament, Sifu, and more. The first eight episodes premiered on 10 December, each featuring a different sub-20-minute runtime.
The series features a star-studded voice cast that welcomes Arnold and Patrick Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, Laura Bailey, Temuera Morrison, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Emily Swallow, and more. It sees Miller pulling extra duty as executive producer alongside Dave Wilson, who also serves as supervising director.
Further details about Season 2 of Secret Level, such as a release window, featured IPs, and plot, are currently under wraps. However, our interview with the pair highlighted the possibility of a Joust outing, based on the 1982 arcade title credited for popularising the two-player co-op concept.

“Very serious knights, gritty, mounted on ostriches killing each other; I think it’d be awesome,” said Miller then, before sharing that there were “about 117 games” he wanted to bring to life.
Considering the diversity of art styles and adaptation choices in its freshman season, some more intriguing than others, it’d certainly be interesting to see how the team will continue to flex their creative muscles and flesh out the existing lore of selected video game worlds.
