‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ Prequel Trailer Reveals Explosive Alien Invasion With Lupita Nyong’o

How did the world go silent in A Quiet Place? Where did the creatures come from? A Quiet Place: Day One holds the answers to those questions, as revealed in a new trailer showing off large-scale explosions, monstrous creatures, and a desperate fight for survival.

Lupita Nyong’o (Us) stars as Sam, who is in New York City on a day trip with her cat when the alien invasion happens, killing plenty of civilians in its wake. She teams up with civilian Eric, played by Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things 4) to escape a post-apocalyptic New York, but survival will prove harder than they both think.

“This notion of a quiet New York is one that will arrest many,” said Nyong’o in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “You just forget to hear the sound. I realized how hard it would be to survive in a world that required you to be silent in that particular city.”

Quinn also shared his take on the film in the same interview, “The script is obviously set in the world that we know, but it’s very much a film about these two characters who are lost and trying to negotiate their fates. There are also some wonderful other characters in the film who Sam encounters, but the bulk of it is Eric and Sam in their mutual acceptance of this bleak, more quiet, new reality.”

A Quiet Place: Day One opens in theatres on 28 June 2024, and its explosive trailer promises a fun adventure through post-apocalyptic New York.
