Paramount Sets ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Live-Action Movie With Transformers Producer

Wake up Samurai, Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to the big screen, as Paramount is turning CD Projekt Red’s sci-fi RPG into a live-action movie.

As reported by Deadline, CD Projekt Red will produce the movie alongside Paramount, with Transformers film franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura also attached to the project. Apart from the reveal, no further details such as its plot or cast have been announced.

The game, which was released in 2020, was set in the fictional neon metropolis of Night City and follows the player character, V, a mercenary who gets imbued with a cybernetic chip containing the consciousness of the legendary criminal Johnny Silverhand (portrayed by Keanu Reeves), with the pair forced to work together to figure out a way to separate from each other, all while confronting the all-powerful megacorporation Arasaka.

While the game launched in a choppy state and was plagued with issues, CD Projekt Red would support the game over the years, releasing numerous patches to fix its issues. The title also received a DLC expansion, Phantom Liberty, in 2023, which featured Idris Elba as Solomon Reed.

The Cyberpunk 2077 movie joins Paramount’s line-up of upcoming video game film adaptations, which includes Street Fighter, which comes out on 15 October 2026, and Peter Berg’s Call of Duty live-action movie.
