POCO F9 Ultra Gaming Test: Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero & Delta Force

As POCO continues to push the boundaries between value and performance when it comes to smartphones, the latest iteration of its flagship line, the POCO F9 Ultra, is here to raise the bar once more, this time going all in on power and performance and making it the ideal gaming smartphone, if it lives up to its claims, of course.

Much like its predecessors, the F9 Ultra doesn’t just run the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip for its CPU, it also houses an additional VisionBoost D8 Chipset, which helps with both visual and performance enhancement. The device also features an Adreno 840 GPU, alongside 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage on our unit, and a massive 8050mAh battery.

With all these graphical enhancements under the hood, it all plays out on a 6.9-inch POCO HyperRGB AMOLED display offering a 2,608 x 1,200-pixel resolution and up to a 185Hz refresh rate. Faced with our gaming gauntlet of Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, and Delta Force, the F9 Ultra unsurprisingly featured impressive overall performance, apart from some minor dips in Zenless Zone Zero and Genshin Impact, with its well-implemented device cooling system ensuring that temperatures never exceeded uncomfortable levels during play.

Check out how the F9 Ultra runs in the video above, covering performance indicators, temperatures, and more. The POCO F9 Ultra starts from S$1,199 for its 12GB RAM and 246GB storage variant, with the 16GB + 512GB model used in the test coming in at S$1,399. The device is also available in two colours – Black and Dark Cherry.
