OG Xbox Returns As 25th Anniversary 3,509-Piece Mattel Brick Shop Set

Mattel is bringing a dose of nostalgia to the building table with its latest premium release: a full-scale, buildable model of the original Microsoft Xbox console. Timed to celebrate the system’s 25th anniversary, the set is a 3,509-piece recreation that captures not just the console itself, but its famously oversized controller, “The Duke”.

Hidden within the console are three modular tributes to Halo: Combat Evolved, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Psychonauts. Each can be removed and showcased individually, complete with 12 NanoWorld figures to stage iconic in-game moments. The controller acts as the key to unlocking interactive features. Pressing its buttons triggers four illuminated scenes and authentic soundtracks from the featured titles, while a secret button combination reveals an exclusive lighting sequence. It’s a clever nod to the console’s legacy and the immersive worlds it introduced.

The Xbox project was designed to reward fans with authentic touches and hidden surprises. At US$329.99, the set positions itself as both a collector’s centerpiece and a hands-on celebration of one of gaming’s most influential consoles. What a way to relive the early 2000s era of green logos, LAN parties, and the birth of Xbox Live, brick by brick.

The Mattel Brick Shop Microsoft Original Xbox Building Set is available for pre-order now at US$329.99 (S$490) through Amazon and Mattel Creations and is expected to start shipping on 1 October 2026.
