‘Supergirl’ Premiere Screening Takes 160 Fans On Journey Of Truth, Justice, And Whatever

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…not Superman. Instead, it’s his cousin, Kara Zor-El (aka Supergirl), flying across the galaxy and leaving destruction in her wake, as director Craig Gillesepie brings a different shade to the live-action portrayal of the superheroine in Supergirl, joined by the ever-adorable, reliable best boy, Krypto the Superdog. Truth? Justice? Who’s got time for that?

For more than 160 fans in Singapore, time was set aside to enjoy an exclusive Geek Culture premiere screening hosted in collaboration with Warner Bros. Singapore on 23 June. It didn’t take long for the excitement to kick in at Shaw Lido, either, with attendees receiving a sticker pack and their more gung-ho counterparts gracing the premises as their favourite characters, offering perfect company for the 1:1 figures of Lobo, the Woman of Tomorrow herself, and Krypto.

As doors opened and the crowd trickled into the hall, a trivia quiz brought energy levels to a fever pitch. Five lucky winners took home a set of exclusive premiums, comprising a pin badge set, a tote bag, and a Krypto t-shirt, before the dimming lights signalled all eyes to look up out for the chaos on the big screen.

Based on the comic book miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the superhero adventure follows Kara, played by House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock, and her meeting with the young Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), who’s on a murderous quest for revenge in the wake of a tragedy. Joining her in the cast are Jason Momoa as Lobo, Matthias Schoenaerts (Krem of the Yellow Hills), David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham (Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, respectively), and of course, David Corenswet as Superman, reprising his role from the 2025 film. The cousins will next reunite in Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to Superman, in 2027, though the extent of Supergirl’s role is unclear.

But first, it’s time to celebrate the take-off of her solo outing in theatres.
