Epic Games’ Battle Royale phenomenon Fortnite is continuing its streak of being a mishmash of crossover IPs, as the game is receiving a massive collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment’s hero shooter Overwatch, bringing new hero skins, weapons, and maps to the game.
As announced via the official Fortnite X/Twitter page, the Fortnite x Overwatch collaboration brings four new skins of heroes Tracer, Genji, D.Va, and Mercy to the game, alongside new landmarks across Battle Island based on Hanamura, Busan Drum Pavilion, King’s Row, and Watchpoints from Overwatch.
The crossover was also revealed via a new Act 3 cinematic trailer, which sees the four heroes rescuing Jonesy and Fishstick from the Ice King, with the Overwatch heroes reciting their iconic lines from the game. With their addition to Fortnite, these heroes now feature a different visual style, trading their almost Pixar-like look in the original game for a look that fits better in the Fortnite universe.
The crossover will also bring unique gameplay elements, including hero weapons being added to the game’s loot pool, like Mercy’s Caduceus Staff and Tracer’s Pulse Pistols, with the latter also providing the interesting twist of letting players play the game in a first-person perspective while using them. Finally, the game will also receive new Showdown milestones, including the payload from Overwatch, or the infamous Lootboxes.

Apart from these new features being added to the base Battle Royale mode of Fortnite, the game’s Zero Build mode, which removes all building mechanics for more classic firefight-based skirmishes, will also be receiving some additions, including infinite sprinting when players equip their pickaxes, the overshield siphon ability, and new starting loadouts and pocket items.
Fortnite will kick off its Overwatch collaboration starting from 14 May 2026.
