Hatsune Miku has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the world, including Fortnite, Sonic: CrossWorlds, and Pokémon, and the list continues to grow. The virtual idol is back in the spotlight in a new music video for HoYoverse’s gacha title Honkai: Star Rail, released one day after a brief 12-second teaser was posted onto social media.
In it, Miku is seen at the arcade with Silver Wolf LV 999, the new playable 5-Star Imaginary introduced in the game’s current 4.2 update, which celebrates its third anniversary. After selecting the “I’ll make you HoYoHoYo” track, with the “Y” spelt using Miku’s iconic leeks, the pair engage in a round of co-op play in what looks to be Hatsune Miku: Colourful Stage (otherwise known as Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku), a rhythm game that consists of tapping, sliding, and flicking notes as they slide toward the bottom of the screen.
It’s wholesome vibes all around — at one point, Silver Wolf LV 999 hits some of the notes on Miku’s side that she was missing, and Miku finding out that she can use both hands to play is pretty on-brand. For HoYoverse, the collaboration also marks a full-circle moment, as the Vocaloid character was the inspiration behind “miHoYo” (HoYoverse serves as the global brand, while miHoYo remains the core company based in Shanghai, China).

While there’s no word on whether Miku would eventually make her way into Honkai: Star Rail, players can look forward to a load of fresh content for Update 4.2, including anniversary events, story updates, new areas, login rewards, limited-time banners for Silver Wolf LVL 999 and Evanescia, a Physical Elation unit, and more.
As for Miku, the virtual idol was the first member of the Character Vocal Series, preceding Kagamine Rin/Len and Megurine Luka, and has grown into a cultural phenomenon over the years. Closer to home, she performed at The Star Theatre as part of Miku Expo 2025.
