Now that the second leg of their journey is over, Frieren and friends are gearing up for the next chapter. Season 3 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is set to premiere in October 2027, bringing the events of The Golden Land arc to the small screen.
The announcement came by way of the anime’s official social media channels, with Macht of Golden Land — the last surviving demon lord and the antagonist for the upcoming arc — teased in a new key visual. Other details about the third season, including staff and new cast additions, have yet to be disclosed.
Based on the hit manga by writer Kanehito Yamada and illustrator Tsukasa Abe, the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime debuted with a two-hour special in September 2023. The second season aired from January to March 2026 and was helmed by Tomoya Kitagawa, the director of episodes 2, 8, and 25 of the first season, who took over the reins from Keiichiro Saito. Madhouse animated both seasons, featuring series composition by Tomohiro Suzuki, character designs by Maru Takase, Keisuke Kojima and Yuri Fujinaka, and music by Evan Call.
Viz Media, which licenses the manga, describes the story as follows:

“The adventure is over but life goes on for an elf mage just beginning to learn what living is all about. Elf mage Frieren and her courageous fellow adventurers have defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. But Frieren will long outlive the rest of her former party. How will she come to understand what life means to the people around her? Decades after their victory, the funeral of one her friends confronts Frieren with her own near immortality. Frieren sets out to fulfill the last wishes of her comrades and finds herself beginning a new adventure…”
Season 3 of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End returns in October 2027.
