Some things never change, indeed. 20 years after introducing viewers to workplace politics and high fashion, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to reunite original stars Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia!), Anne Hathaway (The Idea of You), Emily Blunt (Fall Guy), and Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games trilogy) — and it almost feels like they never left.
The trailer for the sequel opens with Hathaway’s Andy Sachs walking back into the offices of Runway, only for a confused Miranda Priestly, played by Streep, to ask Tucci’s Nigel, “Sorry, who is this? Do you know her? Do I know her?”, which is a testament to how powerful she has become in the business.
Later revealed to be a features editor at Runway, Andy joins forces with Miranda in a face-off against her former assistant, Blunt’s Emily Charlton, now a powerful executive at a luxury conglomerate that controls the ad revenue Miranda needs (and also, whom Miranda remembers from the first film).
“You’ve changed. You’re much more confident,” remarks Emily to Andy in the clip. “You kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?” Welcome back, everyone.

Whether The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be a prelude to a long-gestating revenge arc remains to be seen, but it seems to be in good hands. Alongside David Frankel, who directed the 2006 movie, both Aline Brosh McKenna and Karen Rosenfelt have returned as screenwriter and producer, respectively. The original Devil Wears Prada, based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, followed Andy as Miranda’s junior assistant and the navigation of her professional and personal life, including friendship and relationship problems.
Joining the original quartet in reprising their roles are Tracie Thoms (Rent), who played Lily, a sassy, supportive art gallery manager who is best friend to Hathaway’s Andy, and Tibor Feldman (Enchanted) as Irv Ravitz, the Runway Magazine publisher more concerned with profits than fashion, will both make a return to the big screen in their respective roles.

Several new faces, such as Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels), Kenneth Branagh (Hercule Poirot), Simone Ashley (Bridgerton), Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive), Patrick Brammall (Evil), Caleb Hearon (Fargo), Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives of College Girls), B.J. Novak (The Office), and Conrad Ricamora (How To Get Away with Murder), also star in the sequel.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated for theatrical release on 1 May 2026.
