As the pioneer of the HD-2D aesthetic over at Square Enix, the Octopath Traveler series is no stranger to exploring new territory. The 2023 sequel, for instance, introduced a distinct day-and-night cycle that offered different path actions depending on the time of the day, as well as the Latent Powers battle system, and Octopath Traveler 0 continues in the same spirit.
A standalone prequel to the first game, this latest adventure takes players on a journey through Orsterra, the main setting of Champions of the Continent, from which it drew inspiration. But it’s more than just a console adaptation, as the 80 to 100 hours of playtime (minus side content, mind you) brings some new features into the existing formula, including character customisation, a town-building mechanic, expanded backstories, and full voice-over work.
The long road certainly aligns with its focus on starting from zero and becoming a hero, and the Octopath Traveler 0 Collector’s Edition is the perfect way to celebrate the player’s role in shaping their own story of restoration or revenge. Here’s what to expect from the bundle:
