After months of cast reveals and set teases, Legendary’s upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie adaptation has finally scored a release date, alongside its first plot details and complete list of its roster of fighters.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary has now signed a three-year deal with distributor Paramount following the expiration of its previous output deal with Sony at the end of 2024. The Street Fighter film has also received a new logline, which reads as follows:
Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”
With its updated synopsis, the film is set to be more faithful to its source material – Capcom’s iconic Street Fighter fighting game franchise, which traces its roots to 1987 – compared to its other live-action counterpart, the Jean-Claude Van Damme-led 1994 film, focusing on series mainstays Ryu and Ken as its leading duo instead of Guile.
Legendary has also released the complete cast list for Street Fighter, presented in a nostalgic representation of Street Fighter 2’s character selection screen, which includes:

- Andrew Koji (Bullet Train) as Ryu
- Noah Centineo (Warfare) as Ken
- Callina Liang (Tell me Everything) as Chun-li
