Arrowhead’s multiplayer co-op shooter Helldivers 2 might be dropping on Xbox consoles later this month, but it looks like it’s also bringing some iconic faces along for the ride, as the game’s newest trailer strongly hints towards the arrival of the ODST from Microsoft’s Halo franchise.
With its arrival on Xbox Series X|S consoles being announced last month, game director Mikael Eriksson previously stated that the game had “so much more in store for the future months and years”, and now fans certainly have a clearer idea of what that entails, as the explosive “Bring the Boom” trailer ends with a brief scene of a rain-drenched battlefield, where and orbital drop is seen smashing into the ground accompanied by the iconic saxophone music from Halo 3: ODST.
The Bungie-developed title debuted exclusively on the Xbox 360 in 2009, and placed players in the boots of an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper (ODST) instead of the iconic supersoldier Master Chief, so it remains to be seen if this Helldivers 2 crossover will only be limited to the ODST, or the wider Halo franchise, and also if it will introduce iconic weaponry like the MA5B assault rifle or ODST’s M7S SMG, or possibly even vehicles like the Warthog.

In any case, this crossover marks a momentous union between Sony and Microsoft, and with full crossplay across platforms previously announced, will no doubt boost the game’s already impressive player pool even further, as a new console faction of Helldivers join the fight for Super Earth.
Helldivers 2 orbital drops onto the Xbox Series X|S on 26 August 2026, joining the PS5 and PC.
