Apple iPhone 16 Gaming Test – Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, COD: Warzone Mobile & PUBG

It’s par for the course that a dedicated gaming phone blows performance out of the water, but Apple proves that a regular handset can do the same. While its recent releases have proven highly adept at handling GPU-intensive demands, the upgraded iPhone 16 promises to sharpen the edge in more ways than one.

The latest-gen successor is powered by the all-new A18 chip, touting 30 percent faster CPU performance than its predecessor and a 40 percent increase in GPU processing. It also runs hardware-accelerated ray tracing, delivering improved gaming prowess and five times faster frame rates – an expectation that carries over to real-world testing.

Indeed, putting the iPhone 16 through its paces yielded impressive results in Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, Call of Duty: Warzone, and PUBG Mobile. There were little to no frame rate drops across all four titles, with the device clocking consistent, smooth, and crisp performance. More notably, its cooling capabilities are something to write home about, keeping temperatures lower than expected even under crunch.

Alongside its 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and a 60Hz refresh rate, Apple’s 16th-generation member comes highly recommended for gaming on the go. Check out how well it plays in the above video, which includes starting temperatures, performance indicators, and thermal management findings.

The iPhone 16 starts from S$1,299 for 128GB of storage and tops out at S$1,749 with a 512GB outfit. It will be available in ultramarine, teal, pink, white, and black in Singapore.
