Mobile game developer and publisher Zynga is making its journey to the world of PC gaming, announcing plans to bring the free-to-play player-vs-player (PvP) arena combat game Star Wars: Hunters to the platform via Steam Early Access in 2025.
This PC version will feature higher-resolution textures, improved shadows, lighting, overall environmental detail, and higher rendering quality. In terms of controls, the game will include keyboard, mouse and wireless controller support, with keybinding available for players to customise their control schemes to their liking.
Star Wars: Hunters features 4v4 multiplier arena combat in a similar vein to Overwatch, albeit in a third-person perspective, with players choosing from a cast inspired by familiar Star Wars characters such as Pilbush, an Ewok riding a miniature AT-ST walker, and Aran Tal, a Mandalorian fighter whose equipment is reminiscent of Boba Fett from the films.
The port will mark Zynga’s first published game to launch on the platform, breaking its tradition of mobile games such as FarmVille and CSR Racing. Star Wars: Hunters was previously released on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch in June this year, and has recently entered its fourth season, Survival Instinct.
“The success of Star Wars: Hunters on mobile and Nintendo Switch devices has led to our decision to expand the game to PC,” said Yaron Leyvan, Zynga’s executive vice-president for games in a note to press. “This is something our community of fans have been asking for and we are very excited to welcome even more players to Vespaara. This moment also marks a milestone for Zynga as we bring one of our games to PC for the first time.”
Star Wars: Hunters will launch on Steam Early Access on 28 January 2025, with Steam playtests rolling out beforehand in two stages, from 13 to 16 December 2024 and 10 to 13 January 2025. Sign-ups for the playtests are now open and can be opted in via Steam.
