Ubisoft Pushes ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Release To February 2025 For Extra Polish

Assassin’s Creed Shadows fans will have to wait a little longer to dive into Ubisoft’s next open-world adventure. Originally slated for a 12 November 2024 release, the game has now been pushed back by three months, with a new launch date set for 14 February 2025.

In a statement, Ubisoft explained the delay, citing the need for additional time to “polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features.” This added time will help Assassin’s Creed Shadows deliver on the ambitious promise of its dual-protagonist gameplay, featuring the distinct styles of Naoe and Yasuke.

Notably, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also be hitting Steam on day one — a shift from Ubisoft’s previous release, Star Wars Outlaws. Pre-orders will be refunded, but fans who lock in their orders after the delay announcement will get the first expansion for free, ditching the company’s usual season pass approach.

The delay comes during a rough patch for Ubisoft, as the company grapples with underwhelming sales and a dip in share price following Star Wars Outlaws’ softer-than-expected launch. In a recent note to investors, Ubisoft stressed that while Assassin’s Creed Shadows is “feature complete,” the lessons learned from Star Wars Outlaws have led them to take extra time for polish.
