‘Split Fiction’ Breaks Hazelight Records With 1 Million Copies Sold In 2 Days

Hazelight Studios has proven yet again that they are the masters of their craft, with their latest co-op platformer Split Fiction setting a new company record by selling over one million copies in two days.

Sharing the milestone via X/Twitter, Hazelight wrote: “The love you all show for our game is overwhelming! Everyone here at Hazelight are beyond happy – and we can’t stop enjoying your amazing reactions!”

Of course, this news shouldn’t come as much surprise, considering the title became an instant hit and a viable contender for game of the year (GOTY) upon launch, even dethroning bigger titles in terms of ratings like Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds on Metacritic, with critics praising not only the sheer gameplay variety it offers, but also how it bravely tackles the co-op only genre, something that’s becoming less common in today’s video gaming industry.

It also has to be noted that these latest figures only mark the number of copies sold, and do not take into account the total amount of actual players of the game, which is likely to be far greater considering the title includes a Friend’s Pass system that allows players to invite their friends to play the entire game in co-op at no additional cost.

This latest sales milestone marks an incredible step up compared to Hazelight’s previous title, 2021’s It Takes Two, which reached the same sales numbers one month after its March launch date, which was already an impressive achievement considering it was only Hazelight’s second title.

Split Fiction is now available for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with cross-platform co-op support.
