Self-described as the “cosiest” open-world game, the trailer offers an extended look into the title’s relaxing gameplay, presenting a distinct approach to the genre with a strong focus on exploration, discovery and design over combat. Set in a world fuelled by “Whim”, an energy source harnessed via fashion, players will take on the role of Stylist Nikki, a clothing maker who investigates a strange phenomenon that makes the citizens of Florawish go comatose.

The game’s central loop revolves around the acquisition and use of different outfits that grant wearers unique abilities and tools, with the trailer showing off a couple such as the “Bubbly Voyage”, a blue dress which grants the ability to float in the air, and “Afternoon Shine”, yellow overalls that enables the use of a net to catch various insects.

The upcoming title is also brimming with visual flair, owing to the involvement of Nintendo veteran Kentaro Tominaga, who was previously the game designer on 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Marking the most ambitious title yet from the long-running Nikki series, whose previous games include mobile games such as 2016’s Love Nikki and 2021’s Shining Nikki, Infinity Nikki will be the studio’s first full-fledged gaming title, with releases across PC, consoles and on mobile. As a result, fan anticipation is understandably high, with the game already topping 30 million global pre-registrations as listed on the official title page.

And fans don’t have to wait that long either, as they can dress up, explore and befriend pets to their heart’s desire when Infinity Nikki launches on 5 December.
