Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Gaming Test — Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact & PUBG Mobile

Niche offerings come with their fair share of merits, and in the case of Samsung’s foldable lineup, the extended display proves handy for both work and play. Building on initial concerns regarding the additional heft and folding durability, the tech giant has worked to trim the fat and beef up its build, with each iteration growing leaner and meaner than before.

Making its annual return to the, well, fold is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, the lightest member in the series to date. It weighs just one gram more than the Galaxy S25 Ultra at 215 grams, but boasts a bigger main and cover display that measure 20.31 cm and 16.48 cm, respectively, versus 15.89 cm and 19.32 cm on its predecessor. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor packs the punch needed for smooth performance, with a QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display (2,184 x 1,968) contributing 120Hz visuals.

These incremental upgrades, coupled with the increased screen real estate, mean a better experience across Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, and PUBG Mobile, theoretically at least. Alas, mobile gaming ended up being a mixed bag, bogged down by inconsistent performance and thermal management.
