DA-DUM, DA-DUM, DA-DUM… “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” That iconic line from 1975’s Jaws movie is now immortalised with the upcoming LEGO Ideas Jaws 21350 set. The 58th LEGO Ideas set comprises of 1,497 pieces and comes with three minifigures of police chief Martin Brody, marine biologist Matt Hopper and sailor Sam Quint, along with their Orca boat and a glorious sizeable LEGO shark model that has a display stand of its own, or it can be separated in half and placed in the diorama with the boat.
The set spans over 59cm wide and 35cm tall with the Orca boat with chasing shark sitting atop a brick-built seawater base. Also attached to the front of the base is a printed tile with chief Brody’s famous line “You’re gonna need a bigger boat”.
After watching the video, we were originally excited to see Steven Spielberg at the 1:23 mark, with a “JAWS” t-shirt and clapperboard, but alas, a minifigure of him wasn’t include in the set.
Speaking about how he approached the design for the set, fan designer Johnny Campbell, reveals: “JAWS is my favourite movie of all-time, so I really wanted to recreate it in LEGO bricks. LEGO building has always been a part of my life in some shape or form but in order to get all of the finer details, I actually freeze-framed JAWS as I watched it so that I could catch a glimpse of the finer details taking notes as I went along. It is just mind-blowing that my design is now an official LEGO set. I can’t wait to stand in a LEGO shop looking at the shelves and seeing a set that I have been involved with and watching someone buying it. It’s every LEGO fan’s dream!”
The LEGO Ideas Jaws set is available for LEGO Insiders from 3 August and for all from 6 August and will be priced at €149.99 / £129.99/ US$149.99 from LEGO.com and all LEGO stores worldwide.
