‘Kaiju No. 8’ Season 2 Drops New Trailer, Premieres 2025

Kaiju No. 8 will expand with a new season, a compilation movie, and an original anime episode set to release in 2025. The announcements were made on 5 August, playing on the series title with the date — 8/5, aligning with ‘No. 8’ and ‘Hachi Go’ in Japanese, which translates to ‘eight five’.

The forthcoming Season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 will spotlight a new character, Gen Narumi, the seventh captain of the First Division of the Defense Force, voiced by Koki Uchiyama. Uchiyama is known for his roles in Oshi no Ko and Solo Leveling.

In addition to the second season, the franchise will release a compilation movie of the first season, offering fans a consolidated view of the initial episodes. Moreover, an original episode titled Hoshina’s Day Off is in development, focusing on the day-to-day life of Soshiro Hoshina, the vice-captain of the Third Division.

This development comes as Shonen Jump bids farewell to My Hero Academia, which recently concluded its 10-year run. Kaiju No. 8‘s expansion is poised to fill the gap, drawing in a substantial audience. This was evidenced by the viewer growth reported by Crunchyroll during the first season, which is available in both subtitled and dubbed formats.
