‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Sequel Reunites Main Cast And Director

Unlike its prehistoric beasts, the Jurassic film franchise looks like one that will never go extinct, as this year’s Jurassic World Rebirth reboot is set to receive a sequel, with director Gareth Edwards expected to return alongside the film’s main cast.

As reported by The InSneider, Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali are expected to reprise their respective roles as Zora Bennett, Dr Henry Loomis, and Duncan Kincaid, respectively, and although no plot details have been revealed, fans can certainly expect more genetically-altered beasts and plenty of close calls as the heroes escape them within an inch of their lives.

News of a sequel shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering how well Jurassic World Rebirth performed at the box office, garnering US$318 million at the global box office over its opening weekend. This momentum would continue to grow over the next five weekends, with the film clinching US$766 million at the start of August, making it one of only three movies to have cleared the US$750 million milestone at the time.

Apart from Gareth’s return to the director’s chair alongside the film’s main cast, Steven Spielberg is also set to executive produce once more, which marks his second creature-based project in the works alongside the recently announced Gremlins sequel.

As the seventh instalment in the long-standing fan-favourite dinosaur series, Jurassic World Rebirth marked a soft reboot of the franchise when it released on 3 July 2025, shifting focus to a group of new faces as they travel to a former island research facility with the goal of extracting samples from the three largest prehistoric animals that are vital for a heart disease treatment, coming face-to-face with perhaps the most dangerous of them all, the genetically-mutated Distortus Rex.
