‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Devours US$318 Million Internationally While ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Nears US$1 Billion Milestone

In its opening outing, Jurassic World Rebirth climbed to US$147 million at the domestic box office, while reaching US$171 million at the international box office in 82 markets, totalling US$318 million worldwide.

With a screenplay by original Jurassic Park (1993) screenwriter David Koepp and directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One), Jurassic World Rebirth is the seventh instalment in the long-standing fan-favourite dinosaur series. Headlined by the likes of Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow, Marriage Story), Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, Bridgerton) and Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage, Green Book), the aptly named film reboots the popular franchise by introducing a new cast and retrieval mission.

While the latest instalment faces a slight dip at the North American box office, it is still a hit at the international box office. This remains consistent with the preceding Jurassic World trilogy headlined by Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Tomorrow War) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Argylle, As You Like It), where international audiences were vital in helping all three films pass the billion-dollar milestone.

Brad Pitt and Damson Idris in F1: The Movie (2025)

Meanwhile, Apple’s F1: The Movie trails behind Jurassic World Rebirth in international box office charts, amassing US$56.3 million from 78 markets in its second-week run. The film features the prolific Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Fight Club) as a washed-up Formula One legend climbing back to the top. Though it has had a strong showing, racking up US$184 million in overseas markets and US$293 million in total globally, the racing drama will still have to do a few more rounds at the box office to rationalise its pricey budget of US$250 million.

Lilo & Stitch (2025)

On the other hand, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch has garnered US$564.2 million overseas and a total of US$972.7 million worldwide in its seventh week. Featuring seasoned professionals such as Zach Galifianakis (Hangover) and Billy Magnussen (Game Night, Spy Kids: Armageddon), alongside young talent Sydney Elizebeth Agudong in her first big role and industry newcomer Maia Kealoha in her film debut, the the live-action adaptation has already surpassed A Minecraft Movie that accumulated US$954 million at the box office. Though Lilo & Stitch is now Hollywood’s highest-grossing movie for the year, China’s Ne Zha 2 remains the most commercially successful film of 2025, having grossed US$2.2 billion thus far.

Jurassic World Rebirth
Elio (2025)

Unfortunately, Disney’s other current property Elio continues to underperform at the box office, having only earned US$96.8 million, a stark contrast to its reported budget of US$150-200 million. Despite respectable reviews and positive audience scores, the animated movie continues to demonstrate a weak showing at the box office. The animated picture follows an imaginative 11-year-old orphan who accidentally becomes Earth’s ambassador to a quirky intergalactic council, discovering friendship and purpose among the stars.
