It seems that Hollywood has finally found its next Sherlock Holmes as Henry Cavill is set to take on the role of the iconic detective in Legendary Entertainment’s film adaptation of Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes mystery novel series.

Cavill will be starring as Sherlock, the elder brother of Enola Holmes who will be played by Stranger Things’ star Millie Bobby Brown. It was also just announced that Helena Bonham Carter (Alice in Wonderland) is set to play as Enola’s mother in the film.

Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve) will be directing the movie, with the script being written by Jack Thorne. According to Hollywood Reporter, the script will involve a missing teen whose father has been murdered.

Springer’s series of mystery novels were first released in 2006 and comprised on six books, each centred around the tale of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ much younger sister, Enola Holmes, who over the course of the books grow to be a highly capable detective in her own right.

Cavill is best known for his role as Superman in DC’s Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. He will be next seen starring in The Witcher for Netflix. In the meantime, there is still no word yet on who will be playing the eldest Holmes sibling, Mycroft.
