The live-action TV adaptation of Starbreeze Entertainment’s multiplayer heist video game, Payday, has tapped Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as its executive producer.
As reported by Variety, Jackson will executive produce the show under his G-Unit Film & Television banner, with the project being produced by Vice Studios alongside Starbreeze. “G-Unit Film & TV has built cinematic crime stories that connect with audiences around the world,” 50 Cent said in a statement. “Teaming up with Vice Studios and bringing the world of Payday to the screen gives us the chance to build something big, a high-energy franchise that pushes the heist genre forward.”
As a rapper, actor and producer, 50 Cent is best known on-screen for his roles in 2018’s Den of Thieves and 2023’s Expend4bles, alongside serving as executive producer on TV projects like 2014’s Power and its sequels, as well as 2025’s 50 Ways to Catch a Killer, giving him the experience needed to take on the adaptation of such an iconic gaming franchise.
“Payday has always been about the fantasy of getting away with it,” said Starbreeze CEO Adolf Kristjansson. “Curtis and G-Unit don’t do subtle, and neither do we. This is not about playing it safe; it’s about doing the franchise justice with people who are as immersed in the world as we are.”
Debuting in 2011, Payday: The Heist was a cooperative heist shooter that followed a group of masked criminals as they work together to plot and pull off high-level robberies, with the franchise spawning two sequels, Payday 2 (2013) and Payday 3 (2023). The game franchise has also given rise to many meme-worthy moments for the TV show to draw upon, such as the constantly overheating vault drill, although the pieces of the project are still coming together for now, as the adaptation has yet to secure a writer or streamer.
