French actor Gaspard Ulliel, best known for portraying the young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising has died following a ski accident. The actor was 37.
Ulliel is a well-known actor in French cinema but gained international recognition after his roles in Hannibal Rising as the young serial killer, and as renowned fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in Saint Laurent.
His family confirmed the death – which followed a skiing accident in southeast France on Tuesday – in a statement given to AFP by his agent. A spokesperson from the ski station said another skier crashed into Ulliel at the meeting of two slopes. He was later airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble where he died on Wednesday
His death came just weeks before he is to appear as Midnight Man in Marvel’s Moon Knight series for Disney+, scheduled to debut on 30 March 2022.
