Full Trailer For Gareth Edwards’ ‘The Creator’ AI Film Promises Epic Sci-Fi Adventure

With the rise in all things A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) in the past year or so, there is no better time for a post-apocalyptic thriller involving a future impacted by a war between humans and AI. The Creator is a sci-fi epic directed and written by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). The film stars John David Washington (Tenet), Allison Janney (I, Tonya), Gemma Chan (Eternals) and Ken Watanabe (Godzilla: King of Monsters).

First teased on 17 May via 20th Century Studios’ YouTube channel, which came under the radar for most, it immediately caught our attention with its use of Aerosmith’s “Dream On”. The teaser trailer was filled with captivating sci-fi visuals, biblical references, and a protagonist tasked to destroy an AI android in the form of a child, but ends up protecting her.

The official synopsis for the movie is as follows:

Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (Washington), a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife (Chan), is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war… and mankind itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory… only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.

The Creator arrives in cinemas on 29 September 2023.
