Everything Announced At Capcom Next Summer 2024, Including New ‘Resident Evil’ Tease

Sometimes, keeping things short and sweet is the way to go. Lasting around 40 minutes with focus on three titles, the Capcom Next Summer 2024 showcase was succinct in dropping updates for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and the iOS/Mac port of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

But there was another surprise in store — a small tease hinting at the future of the Resident Evil series. Here’s a brief look at each announcement.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess

Ahead of its release on 19 July, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess has released a demo on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PS4, and PC via Steam. The “unique Japanese-inspired, single-player Kagura action strategy game” is a refreshing spin on the tower defense genre, with its bold, arresting visuals drawing comparison to Okami, another culturally rich classic from Capcom.

It’s nothing short of apt that the demo will feature crossover content with the latter in a special collaboration. Expect themed weapons, costumes for main character Soh and divine maiden Yoshiro, and more.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Frank West is back in style, nearly 20 years after his debut. Technically a remaster of a remaster, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will ship with several improvements in tow, including an autosave feature, a better UI, and the ability to move while aiming. A new trailer for it also offered a first look at graphical upgrades, showcasing before-and-after comparison shots.

The upcoming entry hits PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on 19 September, with a physical version arriving in November. Pre-orders are now open, adding three more options for Frank on top of the base 17 costumes, each with themed background music.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on iOS and Mac

The fight against the undead continues on iOS and Mac devices. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is heading to mobile with improved touch controls, a new auto-aim and auto-fire feature, touch-compatible inventory, and more. The first section will be free-to-play, so there’s no pressure to commit to a purchase right off the bat.

Additionally, game director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed that a new Resident Evil game is in the works, though details are scant. “We’re making a new Resident Evil,” he said during the Capcom Next 2024 segment. “It was really difficult to figure out what to do after 7. But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details just yet but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.” Rejoice, fans.
