‘Elden Ring’ Surpasses 25 Million Units Sold As ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ DLC Nears

There’s no end to Elden Ring‘s hot streak, as it hits yet another milestone. After selling 23 million units in March 2024, the popular action role-playing game has surpassed 25 million units sold, marking a two million increase in less than three months.

The impressive feat comes ahead of the launch of its expansion Shadow of the Erdtree on 21 June, which is expected to bring in further sales. “Elden Ring has shipped over 25 million copies worldwide. A big thank you to everyone who has played the game,” reads developer FromSoftware’s announcement post on X/Twitter.

The upcoming “first and last” DLC will send feature an unexplored region called the Land of Shadow, adding a wealth of new content to the base adventure. Apart from tracing Miquella’s path and following in his footsteps, players can also expect new weapons, items, bosses, and more.

There are prerequisites to unlock it, however. Keeping in line with previous FromSoftware titles, expansion access requires the completion of several obscure feats, including defeating both Radahn and Mohg. It’s easy to see why — the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss proved to be a challenging threat in our preview of the DLC, so the extra training will most certainly come in handy.
