Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes Firms Up October Release Date

There are plenty of nightmarish treats in store for horror fans in The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, from Lovecraft-inspired monsters to the realistic exploration of enclosed spaces that are perfect for these creatures to trap their prey (aka the player). It certainly is more than apt, then, that the game will be releasing just in time for Halloween, with its release date set for 22 October 2021.

Slated for launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, the third entry in an eight-part series made its announcement in the form of a new story trailer during the 2021 Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live event, where we finally got a first glimpse at a creature in all its terrifying glory.

The presence of this hulking, vicious-looking bat creature has always been alluded to in previous trailers as an unknown entity that snatches characters out of view and inflict grievous wounds on them. Here, a…uh, face of sorts has been attached to the figure, as it showcases its huge dragon-esque wings and sharp teeth in the depths of a complex cave.

It’s really not something you’d like to bump into when exploring a cursed, ancient cavern, but such scares are what makes up a core part of the experience, which means you can expect a lot more in store. Brace yourselves.

A more detailed look at gameplay may be gleaned below, where the makings beyond conventional horror are showcased in action, as The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes sets itself up for the to-play list of horror fans.
