CD Projekt Red Targets 2025 For Earliest ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Live-Action Adaptation

The resurrection of Cyberpunk 2077 has been one of the better comeback stories of recent times, and for CD Projekt Red, it means putting even more time and effort into keeping the hype going in whichever way possible. One of those is a live-action project for the game, but getting that done will require more time, with the studio confirming that it won’t be released until 2025 at least.

This was revealed at the developer’s latest earnings call, where Chief Commercial Officer Michał Nowakowski shared the news while trying to explain how the good sales numbers can be maintained in the coming months.

“In terms of promotional activities, there is the Ultimate Edition launching soon, but when it comes to the Cyberpunk IP we’re going to be nurturing it and developing it through activities going outside of the game as well,” he said. “We’re not really discussing specifics here but one of the obvious things that we have announced, not happening next year, but going to be developed or moved in the direction next year, is the project we have announced with Anonymous Content.”

So, at best, the final product will arrive in 2025, but that is not a guarantee as well. No details have been revealed at all about this live-action Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation, so we don’t even know if it will be a film, a series, or somewhere in between.

At the very least, we know that CD Projekt Red has a pretty good track record when it comes to transitioning its games to other mediums. The success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is clear, while The Witcher has also garnered some success. Having a new related project go live is also a great way to start building hype for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, with the studio currently hiring talent to help build the project codenamed Orion.
