Amazon Orders Animated ‘Secret Level’ Anthology Series Focusing On Video Games

A new challenger is entering the adult animation space at Amazon. According to Deadline, the company has ordered an upcoming animated anthology series for its Prime Video streaming service, featuring original short stories set across various beloved video games.

The project titled Secret Level is being developed and executive produced by Tim Miller and his Blur Studio, the creative talent behind Netflix’s beloved sci-fi show Love, Death & Robots. Per the report, it’ll follow a similar structure to the latter, consisting of standalone episodes focusing on Spelunky, Amazon’s own New World, and various other PlayStation titles.

Full specifics of the exact entries are expected to be unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, which is kicking off on 20 August (or 21 August, depending on region). In any case, Secret Level marks the latest addition to the streamer’s adult-animated slate that includes Invincible, Hazbin Hotel, and Batman: The Animated Series.

There will be some big shoes to fill, though. Amazon found a highly-successful video game endeavour in its live-action Fallout series, with Season 2 set to bring more action and intrigue, as well as an important character from the Fallout: New Vegas game. A live-action adaptation of Santa Monica Studio’s God of War is also in the works at the studio, which touts to “be true to the source material”.
