A24 and Alex Garland’s Elden Ring movie has reportedly wrapped filming, with news of the important milestone coming from an unexpected source – a social media post accidentally posted early by prop artist Sean Schofield.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Schofield shared a photo of a themed backpack and clapboard keychain, likely gifts given to the crew, alongside a special message from Garland and producers Allon Reich, Matthew Penry-Davey, Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Charlie Reed, which read: “Dear cast and crew, thank you for your incredibly hard work on Elden Ring. Your skill, dedication, and all-round professionalism were integral in bringing this unique project to life. We wish you a well-earned rest.”
“Dream job to end all dream jobs,” read the post’s accompanying caption. “Six solid months of blood, sweat and tears making the coolest stuff ever, working alongside the best of the best. Can’t share anything else for a very long time, but I couldn’t be more proud of what we did.”
However, it seems that Schofield might have revealed the news of Elden Ring wrapping production too early, as the post was subsequently taken down, but not before snapshots were spread across the internet. This isn’t even the first time details of the film have been leaked early, as set footage was previously captured early by fans on TikTok, teasing a game-accurate recreation of the Churches of Marika seen throughout the 2022 title.
With the film now entering post-production, that leaves the project less than two years before its scheduled release date of 3 March 2028, and considering how much CGI the project will undoubtedly require to bring the game’s fantasy action to life, it remains to be seen whether the film can hit its deadline.
