Fox’s Baywatch reboot series is gearing up for beach day, as the show has now received its release date of 6 January 2027.
Stephen Amell, who portrays the reboot’s new lead, Hobie Buchannon, took to Instagram to share the show’s release date, alongside a new image of its cast lined up on a beach in their iconic red swimsuits. Amell’s character Hobie is the son of Mitch Buchannon, the protagonist of the original 1989 show played by David Hasselhoff, a character previously played by Brandon Call and Jeremy Jackson in the original series.
Directed by Joseph McGinty Nichol (The Babysitter), aka McG, the show centres on the titular lifeguard group and its new captain, Hobie, as they protect Southern California’s coastline, only for things to take a turn when Hobie’s daughter, Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin), shows up on his doorstep eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy.
Other members of its lifeguard roster include Hassie Harrison (Tacoma FD) as Nat, Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars) as Trina, former football player Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, TikTok content creator Noah Beck as Luke, and model Brooks Nader as Selene. The reboot will also see the return of David Chokachi in a recurring role, who will reprise his role as Cody Madison from the original show.

As with the original show, the Baywatch reboot is set to feature the same high-stakes rescues that made the franchise so popular to begin with, alongside a healthy dose of interpersonal drama, and no shortage of iconic slow-mo shots as the characters perform their daily duties in the iconic red Baywatch outfits. The reboot is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios and Fremantle, with McG, Matt Nix, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz serving as executive producers.
The Baywatch reboot will run for 12 episodes and will premiere on Fox on 6 January 2027.
