Delta Gaming Emulator App Gets Update For iPhone Duo, Turns Phone Into Foldable Handheld Console

Delta, the gaming emulator app that enables Apple devices to run games from classic consoles such as the NES, SNES, and N64, has received a new update for the iPhone Duo, optimising it for the new foldable device and adding more features.

The new major update overhauls the app’s UI for Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, fully adapting all screen sizes across iPhones, iPads, and the iPhone Duo. Specifically for Apple’s foldable, users will still be able to use Split View multitasking features and can now put their games to sleep by folding the Duo’s screen while playing, similar to closing the lid on a Nintendo handheld console.

With this latest update, iPhone Duo users can now play their Nintendo DS games in a form factor close to the original console itself, with one half of the Duo’s screen functioning as its control panel, and the other as the main screen. The app also featured adjustable skins, allowing players to customise how their emulated Nintendo DS looks on the Duo.

Apart from iPhone Duo optimisation, the new update also adds support for Sega Genesis games, alongside controller skins that re-create the Genesis controller look. There will also be a DLC feature that will add custom in-game experiences for classic Pokémon games such as rare Pokémon and special event items, and will support all mainline franchise releases for the Game Boy Advance, with the first wave of DLC coming at a later date. Finally, the update also adds experimental features like support for Epilogue’s GB and SN Operator gadgets, a tool that allows users to play their old Nintendo cartridges on their devices instead of downloading ROMs online, since the app does not come with any games pre-installed.

The Delta game emulator is now available for free on the App Store.
