Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ TV Reboot Brings The Sun And Skin With First Trailer

Sun’s out, guns out, as the first trailer for Fox’s Baywatch TV series reboot has dropped, offering a first look at the show’s high-stakes lifeguard rescues and sexy slow-mo shots ahead of its release in January 2027.

Set to the original 1989 show’s theme song,  “I’m Always Here” by Jimi Jamison, the three-minute-long trailer goes all-in on what made the legendary show so popular to begin with, with intense rescue scenes for the lifeguards to overcome, like a crashed plane or an exploding lifeguard tower, alongside that tantalising interpersonal drama the team has to deal with along the way.

Led by Stephen Amell’s (Arrow) Hobie Buchannon, the son of Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff), who was played by Brandon Call and Jeremy Jackson in the original series, Baywatch centres on the new Baywatch captain and his team as they protect Southern California’s coastline, only for Hobie’s life to take a turn when his daughter, Charlie Vale (Jessica Belkin), shows up on his doorstep eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy.

Other members of its lifeguard roster include Hassie Harrison (Tacoma FD) as Nat, Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars) as Trina, former football player Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, TikTok content creator Noah Beck as Luke, and model Brooks Nader as Selene. The reboot will also see the return of David Chokachi in a recurring role, who will reprise his role as Cody Madison from the original show.

Joseph McGinty Nichol (The Babysitter), aka McG, will direct the reboot’s series premiere, with Fox Entertainment Studios and Fremantle producing. McG will also double up as executive producer alongside Matt Nix, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz.

The Baywatch reboot will run for 12 episodes and is scheduled to premiere on Fox in January 2027.
