DC’s Mr Terrific Live-Action Spin-Off Series Taps ‘Wonder Woman’ Writer

DC Studio’s Supergirl might not be performing as hoped at the box office, but that’s not stopping Warner Bros from exploring more side characters in its world of superheroes, as a Mr Terrific TV show is reportedly in the works with Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg.

Mr Terrific

As reported by a The Hollywood Reporter story outlining the future of the DC Universe following Supergirl, the studio has been quietly developing a series focused on the super-genius who made his debut in 2025’s Superman. Although not much is known about the series, as it is still in its early phases of development, Heinberg, a longtime TV veteran with credits on shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Sex and the City, and The Sandman, will be writing its pilot.

Making his debut in 1942’s Sensation Comics #1, the original Mr Terrific was a man named Terry Sloane, a gifted man with both wealth and knowledge thanks to his photographic memory. The hero was eventually killed by his nemesis, the Spirit King, before being succeeded by Michael Holt, who first made an appearance in 1997’s Spectre #54. This new version of Mr Terrific was a prodigy with an aptitude for advanced technology, using high-tech gadgets like his iconic T-Spheres and vehicles to combat villains.

The Holt version of Mr Terrific made an appearance in Superman, played by The Harder They Fall star Edi Gathegi. The hero was a part of the Justice Gang alongside Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern and Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, and was its only member who took the threat of Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) seriously, helping Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) to break Superman (David Corenswet) out of his interdimensional prison. Gathegi is also set to reprise his role in the upcoming follow-up, Man of Tomorrow, and although there’s a high chance he will play the character in the spin-off series, nothing has been confirmed for now.

Apart from Mr Terrific, the DC Universe is also set to see more of its side heroes and villains take the spotlight, with a Lanterns TV show and a Clayface movie both set to premiere this year, alongside a crime series, DC Crime, which sees Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen facing off against the universe’s deadliest villains like Gorilla Grodd.
