Look out, for Kara Zor-El is set to unleash her rage. Now that Superman has had his time to shine, his cousin will next take flight on the big screen, with House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock playing the title role in Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl.
Based on the adaptation of the comic book miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the film follows the superheroine — or antihero, depending on how one looks at it — and her meeting with the young Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), on a murderous quest for revenge in the wake of a tragedy. But she won’t be alone in this journey across the galaxy, joined by the adorable best boy, Krypto the Superdog, and unlikely ally Lobo (Jason Momoa).
Other familiar faces for DC fans include Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts), Supergirl’s parents Zor-El (David Krumholtz) and Alura In-Ze (Emily Beecham), and of course, Superman himself (David Corenswet). Ana Nogueira wrote the script for Supergirl, which will be the second film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s revamped DC Universe (DCU).
In partnership with Warner Bros. Singapore, Geek Culture is giving away 60 pairs of tickets to an early fan premiere screening on 23 June at Shaw Lido, so don’t miss out on the chance to catch all the action before everyone else!
