Amazon MGM and Mattel Studios have unveiled the second trailer for their upcoming Masters of the Universe live-action film, which oozes the cheesy, over-the-top energy of the classic 80’s He-Man cartoon.
“After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto).” reads Masters of the Universe’s description. “To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.”
The nearly three-minute-long trailer gives not just our best look at the heroes and villains of the movie, but also marks the first time we hear Leto speak as Skeletor. In true 80’s fashion, the clip also offers numerous snippets of explosive action set in the film’s sci-fi/gothic hybrid setting, tons of cheesy dialogue, and questionable CGI, especially when it comes to He-Man’s tiger companion, Battle Cat, but admittedly, that’s all part of its charm.

Masters of the Universe hails from director Travis Knight, and will also star Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, James Purefoy as King Randor, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena and Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto.
Masters of the Universe will bring the power when it launches in theatres on 5 June 2026.
