‘Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game’ Lets Classic Characters Brawl It Out In 2026

Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is getting another video game adaptation in the form of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game (working title), pitting classic characters across the franchise in 1v1 brawls when it releases in 2026.

According to the upcoming brawler’s Steam page, the title will be “rooted in the spirit of elemental mastery” and “channels the energy of classic fighting games while breaking new ground in movement, style, and combat expression.”

While only a brief gameplay trailer has been released, the game is set to feature 12 playable characters at launch, with familiar faces like Aang, Katara, Zuko, Sokka, Toph, and Korra teased. The game is also set to feature a support character system, which allows characters like Mai and June to join the battle on the sidelines, influencing the chosen fighter’s style and granting special moves.

Gameplay in Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will definitely be reminiscent of other titles in the genre, like Street Fighter, albeit with a heavy focus on elemental attacks. According to its description, the game will feature a “Flow System” alongside a “Movement Centric Gameplay”, and will also have a single player campaign with an original narrative.

Fights will also be animated in the franchise’s classic hand-drawn 2D style reminiscent of the shows, and will also feature a dedicated gallery mode, which will no doubt show off each character in better detail. Built to be an online title, the game will also boast “best in class net code and cross-play”.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will be developed by Gameplay Group International and will launch in Summer 2026 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
