Emmys 2025 Recap: ‘Adolescence’, ‘The Studio’, And ‘The Pitt’ Lead Charge

With another year comes the routine of celebrating the best of television, and the 77th annual Emmy Awards had plenty to show for it. The event, which took place on 14 or 15 September (depending on region), saw The Studio as the biggest winner with 13 total wins across the Primetime and last week’s Creative Arts Emmys, becoming the most-awarded comedy series in a single year at the Emmys of all time.

It also made Apple TV+ history by scoring the most Emmys for a freshman comedy series, including best writing, best directing, and best actor in the category. Netflix’s Adolescence trails behind with eight awards, with stars Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty scoring wins for lead actor, supporting actor, and supporting actress, respectively. Cooper’s impressive achievement makes him the youngest male actor to win a Primetime Emmy Award — in his debut role as teenage murder suspect Jamie Miller, no less.

As for the coveted best drama series accolade, the honour goes to freshman series The Pitt, which clinched five wins for the year. Other notable highlights include Cristin Miloti winning lead actress in a limited series for The Penguin, fresh off eight wins from the Creative Arts Emmys, Severance‘s Tramell Tillman, who became the first Black man to win best supporting actor in a drama series, and the first-ever win for The Last Show With Stephen Colbert, following news that it would wrap up in 2026.
