‘Metal Gear’ Voice Actor David Hayter Teases Return To Iconic Role

David Hayter, the original voice actor of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear series, has teased a return to his iconic role.

In a post on X/Twitter, Hayter hinted that he would be “playing a role [he has] not played, since…” followed by a gif of Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

While the post seems to hint at Hayter’s return in the highly-anticipated Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, this does not appear to be the case, as Konami has previously confirmed that the game will re-use dialogue from the original 2004 title.

If that’s the case, what roles could he be referring to then? There has been speculation that Hayter could return to record new voice lines as part of the unannounced Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, a remastered collection of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Solid 5. A more exciting proposition would be that Hayter is set to return in an unannounced new Metal Gear game, but until more information is revealed, fans can only speculate.

Hayter previously portrayed Solid Snake and his progenitor Naked Snake in every Metal Gear game up to and including Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker in 2010, before being replaced by Kiefer Sutherland for 2015’s Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
